The Switzerland County Lady Pacer varsity track team rode an outstanding team effort to the championship of the Vevay Newspapers Invitational last Thursday night, battling six other teams as well as rainy, cold, and windy weather.
The Lady Pacers finished with a score of 128 to claim the win, followed by Southwestern with 115; Rising Sun with 85; Jac-Cen-Del with 43; Lawrenceburg with 37; Milan with 27; and Madison Shawe with 9.
Individually, first places were earned for Switzerland County by the 3,200-meter relay team of Bre Hinman, Allie Mathews, Robin Furnish, and Paige Ridener, who recorded a season-best time of 11:16.8.
Switzerland County’s other first place was earned by Brooke Dickerson, who won the long jump with a personal best distance of 13′ 9 1/2″
Finishing second was Bre Hinman in the 800-meter run; Robin Furnish in the 1,600-meter run; Paige Ridener in the 3,200-meter run; Bre Ricketts in the 100-meter hurdles and the high jump; Olivia Hewitt in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles; Susie Reyes in the discus; and the 400-meter relay team of Alexis Carfield, Andrea Brogan, Bre Ricketts, and Brooke Dickerson.
Third places were earned by Andrea Brogan in the 200-meter dash and the 100-meter hurdles; Brooke Dickerson in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles; Bre Ricketts in the long jump; Olivia Hewitt in the high jump; and the 1,600-meter relay team of Bre Hinman, Allie Mathews, Alexis Carfield, and Olivia Hewitt.
Earning fourth place points were Andrea Brogan in the 100-meter dash; Robin Furnish in the 800-meter run; and Susie Reyes in the shot put.
