Lady Pacers soccer team loses one, ties one

The Switzerland County Lady Pacers soccer team hosted the Lady Knights of South Dearborn on Wednesday, September 26th and lost 1-0.

During the first half, the Lady Pacers controlled the field, out shooting the Lady Knights 7-4; but the score was still tied at 0-0. At the start of the second half, the Lady Knights started to gain their ground. They took control away from the Lady Pacers with nine shots at goal and the Lady Pacers took four. In the 26th minute of the second half the Lady Knights got a shot past the Lady Pacer defense, finding the back of the net ending 1-0 with a loss for the Lady Pacers.

Maggie Armstrong recorded 13 saves for the match, Sara Craig had four shots at goal. Hannah Findley, Rosie Larson and Amber Meli had two shots each and Mackenzie Hale had one shot.

On Thursday, September 26th, the Lady Pacers hosted New Albany and finished the game in a tie 1-1.

“From the first whistle to the final buzzer this was one of the most exciting games of the season for the Lady Pacers,” coach Kevin Craig said. “The Lady Pacers defensive line played an extremely good match with keeper Maggie Armstrong recording 23 saves.”

In the first half both teams kept trying to break through the defensive line without success, leaving the score at 0-0 at the end of 40 minutes. The second half started off the same way until at the 18-minute mark right forward Rosie Larson got past the New Albany defense on a break away and found the back of the net after pulling the goalie out of the box. In the 30th minute New Albany answered back with a goal on a corner kick from Natalie Riley tying the score at 1-1. Then with less than seven seconds left Rosie Larson got through the defense on another break away and got a shot away as the buzzer sounded with the ball going right of goal ending the game in a 1-1 tie.
