Lady Pacers set new records in the pool

The Switzerland County Pacer swim teams participated in the Floyd Central Invitational this past Saturday, and it was a record-breaking day for the Lady Pacers.

Coach Eric Cole said that the ladies had the meet of their lives; placing 8th out of 11 teams; and two new school records to established.

• The 200-yard freestyle relay team consisting of Abby Niswander, Chaeli Kurch, Zoe Cole and Ally Furnish broke the school record by :01.14 seconds.

• The 400-yard freestyle relay of Zoe Cole, Abby Cole, Abby Niswander and Ally Furnish crushed the school record by a margin of :05.16 seconds.

“To say that this coach was excited is the understatement of the year,” Coach Cole said. “I am so proud of the hard work and positive attitude this team shows everyday.”

• The 200-yard medley relay team of Abby Cole, Josie Stogsdill, Aaliyah Ridener and Chaeli Kurch placed 14th.

Individual Results for the Lady Pacers included:

• Ally Furnish was third in the 100-yard freestyle and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke.

• Zoe Cole was 14th in the 200-yard freestyle and 13th in the 100-yard freestyle. Both were personal records.

• Aaliyah Ridener swam her personal best in the 200-yard freestyle, placing 26th; and in the 500-yard freestyle, placing 19th.

• Abby Niswander set a personal best placing 10th in the 50-yard freestyle.

• Abby Cole set a new personal record, placing 20th in the 50-yard freestyle.

• Josie Stogsdill placed 30th in the 50-yard freestyle; and set a personal best in the 100-yard breaststroke placing 21st.

• Chaeli Kurch swam a personal best in the 100-yard backstroke and placed 22nd.

• Veronika Synakova swam the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.

The boys placed 11th out of 12, as the Pacers had two swimmers who were not able to be there due to illness – which eliminated over 50-percent of the events that Switzerland County was going to participate in.

• Dalton Faddis was 16th in the 200-yard freestyle, bettering his personal best by :01.99 seconds; and was 12th in the 100-yard backstroke.

• Derick Elliott set a personal best in the 50-yard freestyle by :00.9 seconds.
