A disqualification in the 400-meter relay may have cost the Switzerland County Lady Pacers the chance to win last Wednesday’s Vevay Newspapers Invitational track meet; but at the end of a very cold evening, Switzerland County finished in second place overall.
Southwestern won the event with a team score of 133; followed closely by the Lady Pacers with 124 points. Rising Sun was third with a score of 70; followed by Jac-Cen-Del with 61; Lawrenceburg with 32; and Madison Shawe and Carroll County tied with 11 points each.
Switzerland County earned two first places in the meet.
Senior Olivia Hewitt contributed to both, as she earned first place overall in the high jump with a height of 4′ 8″; and then teamed with Jade Mullins, Emily White, and Robin Furnish to record a season-best time in winning the 3,200-meter relay with a time of 11:48.
Switzerland County rolled up points with its team depth, and 17 season-best times or distances were established in the meet.
