The Switzerland County Lady Pacer varsity basketball team will open IHSAA Sectional play this year this Tuesday night, February 5th.
The Sectional will be played at South Ripley High School, and will run through next Saturday night, February 9th.
The tournament opens this Tuesday, February 5th, when North Decatur (11-7) takes on Coach Ashley Chase’s Switzerland County Lady Pacers (8-11) in the first game at 6 p.m.; followed by the second game, which will feature South Ripley (13-6) against Southwestern (6-14).
On Friday, February 8th, Milan (1-17) will play the winner of the Switzerland County-North Decatur game at 6 p.m.; with Austin (16-4) then playing the South Ripley-Southwestern winner at approximately 7:30 p.m.
The two winners from Friday night’s games will then square off for the Sectional championship on Saturday, February 9th, with the game getting underway at 7 p.m.
Tickets will be available at the door.

The winner of the South Ripley Sectional will then play in the Paoli Regional on Saturday, February 16th. The South Ripley winner will play the winner of the Sullivan Sectional in the Regional’s second game at noon; with the winners of the Paoli Sectional and the Forest Park Sectional playing in the opening game at 10 a.m..
The Regional championship will then be played at 8 p.m. that evening.
The Sullivan Sectional features host and favorite Sullivan (18-2), North Knox (12-8), Eastern Greene (8-9), South Knox (7-10), North Central, Farmersburg (6-13), and Bloomfield (7-11), and Linton-Stockton (3-16).
The Paoli Sectional appears to favor the host Rams (16-1); while the Forest Park Sectional has a clear cut favorite in Evansville Mater Dei (20-2).
The Regional winner will then play the winner of the Speedway Regional at either Richmond or Bedford North-Lawrence on Saturday, February 23rd; and the state championship games for all four classes will be played in the Hulman Center on the campus of Indiana State University in Terre Haute on Saturday, March 2nd.
