Switzerland County will open state tournament play in the Class 2A Sectional #45 at South Decatur tomorrow (Friday) night after drawing an opening round bye.
The tournament began on Tuesday, with Milan defeating North Decatur in the Sectional’s first game; and that was followed by South Ripley defeating South Decatur.
The Sectional now shifts to tomorrow night, as Coach Mark Boggs’ Lady Pacers take on Milan at 6 p.m. That will be followed by Southwestern playing South Ripley at approximately 7:30 p.m.
The two winners from tomorrow’s semifinals will then play in the Sectional championship game this Saturday, February 2nd, at 7 p.m.
The Lady Pacers defeated Milan 44-42 in overtime on November 27th.
The winner will then move on to Regional play on Saturday, February 9th, when the South Decatur winner will play the winner of the Forest Park Sectional in the first game; followed by the Eastern (Pekin) Sectional winner playing the Sectional winner at North Knox.
The Forest Park Sectional features: Evansville Mater Dei (11-10); Forest Park (10-12); South Spencer (9-11); Tell City (12-10); Perry Central (3-17); and North Posey (1-18).
The Eastern (Pekin) Sectional features: Crawford County (17-3, ranked #6 in Class 2A); Eastern (Pekin) (15-6, ranked #9 in Class 2A); Paoli (14-9, ranked #14 in Class 2A); Providence (10-11); Austin (11-12); Henryville (6-16); and Clarksville (0-22).
The North Knox Sectional features: Linton-Stockton (18-3, ranked #7 in Class 2A); North Knox (15-6, ranked #16 in Class 2A); Mitchell (7-13); South Knox (12-10); Eastern Greene (8-14); and North Davies (6-17).
