Lady Pacers fifth in ORVC track meet


The team didn’t bring home any blue ribbons, but the Switzerland County Lady Pacer track team put together an outstanding all around performance last Thursday night in the ORVC conference meet held in Madison.

The Lady Pacers finished fifth overall with a total of 42 1/2 points. Southwestern won the conference crown with a score of 121; followed by South Ripley with 106 1/2; Rising Sun with 83; Milan with 43; Switzerland County; Jac-Cen-Del with 39; and Shawe Memorial with 29.

Second places were earned for Switzerland County by Christina Ahaus in the shot put with a distance of 32’11”; Amanda Hon in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 13:16; and Brittany Hall in the high jump with a height of 4’11”.

Maggie Armstrong was third in the discus with a distance of 89’7″; and Amber Meli was third in the 3,200-meter run with a personal best time of 13:32.

Fourth place was earned by the 3,200-meter relay team of Amanda Hon, Beth Abbott, Shana Todd, and Amber Meli, who ran a time of 12:00; while fifth place points were earned by Maggie Armstrong in the 400-meter dash.

Laci Daugherty finished sixth in the high jump; and Katie Hall was sixth in the discus.

“The girls did a great job,” coach Adam Dennis said. “They competed in every event that they were in.”
