Switzerland County made the snowy trek to New Albany last Thursday night, and a low scoring second period doomed the Lady Pacers in a 53-30 loss.
New Albany, a Class 4A school, got off to a 19-11 start in the opening quarter; but in the second period the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Pacers 15-3 to take a 34-14 lead into the half.
Switzerland County’s offensive struggles continued in the third period, getting outscored 13-5 to take a 47-19 deficit into the final quarter; but in the fourth Switzerland County fought hard and won the period by an 11-6 count to make the final score 53-30.
Becca Sittloh and Trisha Smith led Switzerland County with eight points each; and Trisha Smith also pulled down six rebounds.
Hayley South added seven points and eight rebounds to the effort; and Kristen Perry had five points; six rebounds, and two steals.
Emily White added the other two Lady Pacer points.
Kamaren Cole led New Albany with 18 points; Tisha Langford added 16; and Courtney Cook was in double figures with 13.
As a team, the Lady Pacers were 10-for-42 from the floor (24.4-percent); and were 8-for-14 from the freethrow line (57.1-percent).
The bigger New Albany team outrebounded Switzerland County 41-32; and the Lady Pacers committed 20 turnovers in the contest.
