The Switzerland County Lady Pacer soccer team finished the first week of its season with a loss to Carroll County 3-0; and a 0-0 tie to defending ORVC champion Southwestern.
“We have a very young team that is improving and gaining experience with each passing game,” head coach Tully Anderson said. “We start four freshman and only have 13 healthy players.”
Anderson said that in the team’s first game at Carroll County the squad suffered from a lot of jitters and it showed, giving up two goals in the first half.
“We only managed four shots on goal,” Anderson said. “Jordan Scott and Alli Bruce led our defense.”
Then the Lady Pacers home season opener against Southwestern on Wednesday, August 22nd ended up being a defensive battle, as the 0-0 final score showed.
“We owe this game to new Keeper Jordan Scott and our defense,” the coach said. “Jordan made several diving saves, logging 10 saves for the match. She just moved to Switzerland County from New Hampshire, and has been a big improvement for us at that position.”
Coach Anderson also credited Alli Bruce, Emily Pike, Kaitlyn Yeary and Alexis Ridener for holding the Rebel attack in check; and he said that Kaylee Jones did an excellent job marking Southwestern’s playmaker.
