Lady Pacers fall hard to North Decatur by a score of 74-34
The Switzerland County Lady Pacers made the long trek to North Decatur High School on Wednesday night, Thanksgiving Eve — and the ride home wasn’t a joyous one, as the Lady Pacers fell by a final score of 74-34.
The game got out of control early, as North Decatur raced out to a 22-6 lead after one quarter. Switzerland County got first period buckets from Courtney Higgins, Kenzie Taylor, and Halle Archer.
Madi Allen led North Decatur in the first quarter with nine points; while Kelsey Haley had seven points in the stanza.
Things didn’t get much better in the second quarter, as North Decatur outscored Switzerland County 19-10 in the period to grab a 41-16 lead at the halftime break.
Higgins had four points in the second on a basket and two freethrows; while Taylor had another bucket; and Allena Weaver and Molly Wrightsman each contributed a pair of freethrows.
Allen continued her run in the second, posting another five points; while Sydney Rohls had six points in the period.
Coming out of the halftime break, North Decatur’s offense continued to roll, scoring another 21 points while limiting Switzerland County to just 10.
The Lady Pacers got four points from Archer in the third; while Taylor had three points; Higgins chipped in two more; and Macy Collier had a freethrow.
After three quarters, North Decatur led Switzerland County 62-26.
The final saw Switzerland County wrap the game with eight points, getting baskets from Lauren Smith, Weaver, and Isabella Breeck and two freethrows from Higgins.
At the final buzzer, North Decatur held a 74-34 victory.
Higgins led the scoring for Switzerland County with 10 points and she also had four assists; while Taylor had seven points.
Archer had six points and four rebounds; Weaver had four points; Wrightsman, Smith, and Breeck each had two points; and Collier had six rebounds to go along with one point.
Allen had 16 to lead North Decatur, while Rohls had 15 and Haley added 10.
The Lady Pacers were to play at Milan on Tuesday night, November 29th; and will play at Crothersville tonight (Thursday). Switzerland County returns home for an afternoon clash this Saturday against Christian Academy. That game will begin at noon.

In the junior varsity game, North Decatur defeated Switzerland County 46-40.
Carlee Boggs had a big game for the Lady Pacers, scoring 13 points; while Addie Kelso contributed eight points.
Isabella Breeck finished with six points; Claire Rogers had five; Ashlyn Covington and Lauren Smith had three points each; and Kaitlyn Stucker had two points.
