The Switzerland County Lady Pacer basketball team wrapped up a busy opening to their season on Saturday night. The Lady Pacers played their third game in five days, hitting the road on Saturday for a trip to Henryville.
The young Lady Pacer varsity continued to find its footing, falling to the Lady Hornets by a final score of 49-23 to remain winless on the season.
The first quarter was evenly played, with Henryville outscoring Switzerland County 10-6. The Lady Pacers got field goals from Lauren Smith and Kaylynn Schaefer in the opening period, while Bri Stow contributed a pair of freethrows.
The second and third periods were the difference in the contest, as Henryville outscored the Lady Pacers 14-3 in the second stanza and 17-6 coming out of the halftime break.
In the second, a three-pointer by Stow were the lone points; while in the third Switzerland County got four points from Lauren Smith on a basket and two freethrows; while Stow also chipped in two freethrows.
At the end of the third quarter, Henryville held a 41-15 lead.
The final quarter saw both teams score eight points, but it wasn’t enough for Switzerland County to dig out from the deficit.
The fourth period saw the Lady Pacers get field goals from Stow, Addie Kelso, and Madison Spilman; while Smith and Claire Rogers each had a freethrow.
For the game, Switzerland County had six field goals; one three-pointer; and they were 8-for-15 from the freethrow line.
Henryville was led by Addison Foley with 18 points and Mylee Marcum was also in double figures with 13 points.
Switzerland County hopes to earn its first win of the season tomorrow (Friday) night with a home game against Rising Sun.

In the junior varsity game, Switzerland County lost its first game of the season by a final score of 26-21.
The Lady Pacers were led by Lyndsay Snider and Alayna Smith, each finishing with seven points; while Madison Spilman, Ashlyn Jesop, and Taylor Kappes each had two. Hayley Adams chipped in one point.
