Lady Pacers beat Milan, Sparks strikes out 11
The Switzerland County Lady Pacer softball team defeated Milan on Monday night by a final score of 7-0.
The Lady Pacers got on the board in the bottom of the first, as Jessie Duvall lead off the inning with a walk and she stole a base. With two outs, Bri Stow lined a single that scored Jessie Duvall.
In the bottom of the second, Switzerland County struck again.
With one out Aryonna Cunningham reached on an error; and Gabby Abplanalp reached on a fielder’s choice. Maddie Levell then also reached on a fielder’s choice, witch Abplanalp being cut down at second; and after Jessie Duvall drew a walk; Maddie Duvall singled and drove in Cunningham and Levell.
After a quiet third inning, the Lady Pacers exploded for four runs in the bottom of the fourth.
With one out, Sarah Koons lined a single and advanced to second on a passed ball. Levell then reached on a walk; and Jessie Duvall followed that with a double that scored Koons. Maddie Duvall was then hit by a pitch; and Lily Sparks followed that with a sacrifice fly that scored Levell. Jessie Duvall was forced home when Stow drew a walk; and Maddie Duvall came home when Nora Hankins reached on an error by the first baseman.
Sparks continued her mastery on the mound, allowing just one hit while striking out 11.
