The Switzerland County Lady Pacers lost 79-53 to the Jeffersonville High School Lady Red Devils last Thursday night.
The Red Devil ladies scored the first five points of the ball game; with April Thieman scoring first for the Lady Pacers — putting them on the board 5-2. Ashley Chase stole the ball from the Lady Red Devils and went down for a lay up, but was fouled in the process and went to the line hitting one of two of her tries.
The Lady Red Devils then answered with a shot of their own. Scoring the next three points for the Lady Pacers was Natalie Daugherty; while Ashley Chase and Ashley Bright each chipped in two a piece giving the Lady Pacers the lead, 9-7.
The Lady Red Devils scored with 2:24 left in the quarter to tie up the ball game 9-9. Ashley Chase responded and hit a basket taking the lead for the Pacers 11-9. The Lady Red Devils were then fouled twice, adding three points to their side. Natalie Daugherty scored for the Lady Pacers and the quarter was finished off 13-12 with the Lady Pacers leading.
In the second quarter, 6’3” Lady Red Devil Sabrina Johnson started the period off by scoring inside. Amber Smith then scored a basket for the Lady Pacers giving them a 15-14 lead. The Lady Red Devils then went on a run, scoring a three-point basket and a couple of baskets good for two points each.
Ashley Chase was fouled three times and chipped in five points total at the line for the Lady Pacers.
The score now stood 21-20 with the Lady Red Devils in the lead. The 6’3” Lady Red Devil then worked her way inside scoring twice more and another Lady Red Devil scored again giving them an expanded lead of 27-20.
Natalie Daugherty finished the half scoring in the last seconds ending the half with the Lady Red Devils still in the lead 27-22.
In the third quarter Ashley Chase scored two baskets; but Jeffersonville’s Sabrina Johnson worked her way inside, scoring again three times. The Lady Red Devils then went to the foul line and added three more points.
Lady Pacer April Thieman was also sent to the foul line and was successful for two points; but the Lady Red Devils would add more points to the board before April Thieman went to the foul line once again being successful two for two. The Lady Red Devils were now in the lead 45-32.
Ashley Chase would score once more before the quarter ended; but the Lady Red Devils would score several more times, ending the quarter with the lead 52-34.
The fourth quarter started off the Lady Red Devils hitting a three-point shot and scoring several times; meanwhile, the Lady Pacers could only get lucky at going to the foul line. April Thieman, Ashley Bright and Ashley Chase all went to the foul line at the beginning of the quarter; but Switzerland County would not connect on a field goal until 5:12 left in the quarter, when April Thieman scored for the Lady Pacers.
With three minutes left in the ball game, Ashley Chase scored a basket; but the Lady Pacers were still behind 69-48.
Ashley Chase went to the foul line one more time and scored a basket one last time for the Lady Pacers.
The Lady Red Devils continued their scoring streak. The game ended with a score 79-53.
Scoring for the Lady Pacers in double figures was Ashley Chase with 26 and April Thieman with 10 points. Natalie Daugherty scored eight points, Ashley Bright scored five and Amber Smith and Kodi Driver each chipped in two.

The jayvee Lady Pacers lost to the Jeffersonville jayvee team by a score of 34-25.
Scoring for the jayvee team was Tanya Sefton with 13 points — including making four out of five three-point shot attempts.
Megan McCarty had four points; while Jenna Daugherty, Christina Ahaus, Amber Smith and Morgan Ross all had two points each.
