It was a wet and sloppy course on Saturday when the Switzerland County Pacer girls and boys cross country teams traveled to Osgood to participate in the Jac-Cen-Del Invitational.
It was the first race for the Pacer teams in two weeks, so both squads were rested and ready — and came away with outstanding finishes.
The Lady Pacers finished second overall in the 10-team field, led by Leah Anders, who finished second overall with a season personal best time of 20:28.
Following Anders to the line was Alisha Detmer, who finished 10th in a career best time of 23:08; while Keirstan Oeffinger finished 12th in a season best time of 23:20. Matty Anderson was 14th in a career best time of 23:25; Allison Detmer was 22nd in a season best time of 24:50; and Zoe Cole was 30th in a season best time of 27:17.
The Pacer boys team also had an outstanding day, finishing third overall — their highest finish in four years.
Garrett Demaree led the way with a 10th place finish with a season best time of 19:51; while Ben Hicks ran to a career best time to earn 17th place overall with a time of 20:12.
Coby Manbeck was 23rd in a season best time of 20:47; Kayman McElhany was 31st in a season best time of 22:29; Jaydon Day was 36th in a career best time of 23:20; Peyton Gammons finished with a career best time of 27:40; and Levi Baker finished with a career best time of 28:12.
