The Switzerland County varsity volleyball team earned the championship of the Oldenburg Academy Invitational this past Saturday, September 9th. The Lady Pacers earned three big wins to claim the title.
– In the first game, the Lady Pacers defeated South Decatur by scores of 25-12, 25-19.
– In the second game, Switzerland County defeated Waldron by scores of 25-16, 25-14.
– In the championship game, the Lady Pacers defeated the host Oldenburg squad in three sets: 25-22, 17-25, 15-11.
In the tournament, Switzerland County individual stats included:
– Kinley Morton was 100-percent on serving, including six aces; and she also had 21 kills and three blocks.
– Emerson Schroer had six aces while compiling a 90-percent serving effort; and she also had 21 assists.
– Ally Furnish had nine kills and four blocks.
– Kalli Morton had eight kills and five blocks.
– Delanie Swanson recorded five assists.
“The girls played really well and came away with the title,” Lady Pacer head coach Olivia Hewitt said. “They played relaxed and it showed in the numbers. Oldenburg Academy beat us in our first regular season match of the year, but we came out a stronger team.”
Coach Hewitt saluted Kinley Morton, Emerson Schroer, and Ally Furnish for earning spots on the All Tournament team.
Switzerland County returns to the court tonight (Thursday) when the Lady Pacers travel to Jac-Cen-Del; and are on the road this Tuesday, September 19th, at South Ripley.
