Lady Pacer track team continues strong efforts on the season

The Switzerland County High School Lady Pacer varsity track team participated in the Madison Invitational and a dual meet with South Dearborn during the past week.

Last Tuesday the Lady Pacers participated in the Madison Invitational, finishing second overall.

Madison won the event with a team score of 158; followed by Switzerland County with 63; Scottsburg with 63; Rising Sun with 47; and Madison Shawe with 1.

Maggie Armstrong was the lone first place winner for Switzerland County, winning the long jump with a distance of 14′ 3 3/4″.

Second places were earned by Maggie Armstrong in the discus; Andrea Brogan in the 100-meter hurdles; Bre Hinman in the 800-meter run; and Paige Ridener in the 3,200-meter run in a personal best time.

Finishing third were Maggie Armstrong in the shot put; Emily White in the long jump and 400-meter dash; Allie Mathews in the 1,600-meter run; the 400-meter relay team of Brooke Dickerson, Alexis Carfield, Maggie Armstrong, and Andrea Brogan; and the 3,200-meter relay team of Moriah McFarland, Paige Ridener, Bre Hinman, and Allie Mathews.

Fourth place points were earned by Carlie Peacock in the shot put; Andrea Brogan in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles; and the 1,600-meter relay team of Bre Hinman, Allie Mathews, Emily White, and Olivia Hewitt.

Katie Hall was fifth in the discus.

In a scorekeeping error that impacted Switzerland County, Lady Pacer Olivia Hewitt jumped 4′ 7″ in the high jump, which would have been good enough for second place, but she was inadvertently left off of the meet results.

Last Thursday the Lady Pacers fell to South Dearborn in a dual meet by a score of 67-61.

Andrea Brogan led the way with a pair of individual first place performances, winning the 100-meter hurdles in a time of :18.37 and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in a time of :58.2.

Olivia Hewitt won the high jump with a personal best height of 4′ 8″; Bre Hinman won the 800-meter run in a time of 2:40; Allie Mathews won the 1,600-meter run in a time of 6:27.21; Paige Ridener won the 3,200-meter run in a time of 14:54.8; and the 3,200-meter relay team of Bre Hinman, Allie Mathews, Taryn Parr, and Paige Ridener won the event with a time of 11:40.

Second places were earned by Maggie Armstrong in the discus, shot put, and long jump; Emily White in the high jump and 400-meter dash; Andrea Brogan in the 200-meter dash; and Taryn Parr in the 800-meter run.

Third place finishers for Switzerland County included Carlie Peacock in the shot put; Katie Hall in the discus; Emily White in the long jump; Olivia Hewitt in the 100-meter hurdles; and Brooke Dickerson in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles.
