Lady Pacer softball team stays undefeated with two wins

Coach Steven Konkle’s Switzerland County Lady Pacer varsity softball team is off to a fast start this season, winning three games during the past week to keep its record unblemished.

Last Wednesday, April 6th, the Lady Pacers defeated South Dearborn for the first time in memory by a score of 5-0.

The game was highlighted by a perfect game being pitched by Switzerland County ace Kodi Driver.

The Lady Pacers scored two runs in the opening inning on a home run by Kodi Driver; and then scored the other three runs of the game in the fourth inning on hits by Ashley Chase, Brittany Cole, and Jaclyn Ranz.

Ashley Bright, Holly Jackson, Kodi Driver, and Natalie Daugherty all went 1-for-3 at the plate during the game; and Brittany Cole and Jaclyn Ranz both went 1-for-2. Ashley Chase was 2-for-3, including a triple.

Kodi Driver had two runs batted in for the game; and Ashley Bright, Brittany Cole, and Jaclyn Ranz each had one. Jaclyn Ranz also had two stolen bases, and Ashley Chase contributed a stolen base.

The Lady Pacers then won a nail-biter on Monday night, traveling to South Ripley and defeating the Lady Raiders by a 1-0 score.

Holly Jackson led the way offensively with two hits; while Ashley Bright and Brittany Cole each contributed a hit. Holly Jackson had the game’s only run batted in.

Ashley Bright had two stolen bases in the contest; while Holly Jackson also contributed a steal in the victory.

The game was a pitcher’s dual between Lady Pacer Kodi Driver and Lady Raider Casey Payne; and Kodi Driver won the battle with nine strikeouts.
