Lady Pacer softball continues hot play with three more wins

The Switzerland County Lady Pacer varsity softball team, after starting the second 1-5, upped their mark to 12-7 overall and 8-2 in ORVC play with three big conference wins during the past week.

On Monday, the Lady Pacers defeated Jac-Cen-Del by a score of 6-3.

Hailee Smith led Switzerland County, contributing two doubles and scoring two runs in the win; while Hayley South had two hits including a double and a run scored. Ashley Poling doubled, walked, had an RBI, and scored a run in the win; while Kali Carfield scored the other Switzerland County run.

Jenna Daugherty was 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI; Rachel Tressler was 1-for-3; Kelsi South was 1-for-4 with an RBI; and Becca Sittloh was 1-for-3 with two RBI. Maggie Armstrong also knocked in a run in the game.

On the mound, Becky Turner scattered eight hits and struck out two while allowing only two walks in picking up the win.

Last Friday night the Lady Pacers defeated Rising Sun by a score of 6-5.

Senior Jenna Daugherty led the way in the contest, going 3-for-4 at the plate, scoring three runs and contributing one RBI.

Maggie Armstrong was 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and a triple, knocking in three runs; Rachel Tressler was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI; Kelsi South was 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI; Hailee Smith was 1-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base; Ashley Poling was 1-for-3 with a run scored; and Becca Sittloh was 1-for-2.

Becky Turner went 4 2/3-innings and struck out four; and Rachel Griffin came on to finish the final 2 2/3-innings, picking up three strikeouts.

Last Wednesday, May 13th, the Lady Pacers defeated Jac-Cen-Del – this time by a 6-4 count.

In what Coach Steven Konkle called a “challenging win”, the Lady Pacers grabbed a 6-0 lead only to see the Lady Eagles score four runs in the top of the seventh to tighten the contest.

Hailee Smith was 3-for-4 on the night with double, three runs scored, and a stolen base; while Maggie Armstrong was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Hayley South was 2-for-3 with a run scored, a stolen base and an RBI; and Kelsi South was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
