Lady Pacer softball aims at Sectional


The Switzerland County Lady Pacer varsity softball team is wrapping up its regular season and getting ready for Sectional play.

Last week, the team played three games in three days.

– On Wednesday, May 7th, the Lady Pacers fell to South Ripley by a score of 6-1.

Brooke Todd was 1-for-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases; and Taylar Jordan was also 1-for-3 on the night. Bre Braun was 1-for-2.

On the mound, Kelsi Konkle pitched six innings, struck out 11; allowed just six hits; and only one of South Ripley’s run was earned.

– On Thursday night Switzerland County defeated North Decatur by a score of 9-3.

Kelsi Konkle picked up the win, pitching seven innings, striking out eight, allowing three hits and three runs, with only two of the runs being earned.

At the plate, she was 2-for-3, scored two runs, drew a walk, and also had an RBI.

Brooke Todd was 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored; Taylar Jordan was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI; and Hope Tankersley was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Samantha Christerson was 1-for-3 with a run scored; Baylie Scudder was 2-for-2 with a run scored, an RBI, and a sacrifice; and Rachel Ard scored two runs.

McKenna Edwards was 2-for-2; Tyler Peelman had a sacrifice; and Bre Braun had an RBI.

– On Friday night, the Lady Pacers battled hard, but fell to the state-ranked Rising Sun Lady Shiners by a score of 5-1.

Kelsi Konkle’s homerun provided the only run of the game for the Lady Pacers, while Brooke Todd was 1-for-3 with a double and Taylar Jordan drew a walk.

Kelsi Konkle pitched six strong innings, striking out four and allowing four hits. Rising Sun scored five runs, but none of them were earned.


On Monday night, the Lady Pacers waited through a rain delay before falling to Milan by a score of 9-5.

Kelsi Konkle was 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, two runs scored, and an RBI; and Brooke Todd was 2-for-4 with a run scored an a stolen base.

Samantha Christerson was 1-for-3 with a sacrifice and an RBI; Baylie Scudder was 1-for-3 with a run scored; and Tyler Peelman was 1-for-2.

McKenna Edwards reached base after being hit by a pitch; and, in what may be the most unusual stat of the season, Susie Reyes reached base three times – and was hit by a pitch all three times.

Kelsi Konkle pitched seven innings and struck out four in suffering the loss.
