Lady Pacer soccer topples unbeaten Southwestern
The Switzerland County Lady Pacer varsity soccer team traveled to Hanover last Wednesday night, August 28th, to play unbeaten Southwestern in an ORVC showdown.
Switzerland County got on the board early when senior captain Matty Anderson found the back of the net in the first six minutes of action off a Raylinn Kappes corner kick.
The Lady Pacers struck again with 16 minutes left in the first half, as Kappes scored on an unassisted shot.
The Lady Rebels then answered back to bring the halftime score to 2-1.
Lady Pacer coach Tully Anderson said that the defense of senior captain Deanna Voris, Brooklyn Flanders, senior captain Alli Bruce, Jordan Scott, and Emily Pike once again played a strong game to deny the Rebels another goal.
Anderson scored again in the second half, assisted by Emily Pike, to bring the score to 3-1, which was the final.
“Our midfield play of Miranda Hankins, Kayley Jones, Kayla Scranton and Alexis Ridener was very strong,” Coach Anderson said.
The Lady Pacers improved to 3-1 overall with an 2-1 ORVC record. The team is in action again tonight (Thursday) against rival Rising Sun at 5 p.m.
