Lady Pacer soccer has season underway


The Switzerland County varsity girls soccer team has kicked off its season.

- The year opened with Switzerland County scrimmaging Rising Sun.

“It was a decently matched game that went back and forth with possession,” Coach Jeff Mullins said.

The three sessions that were played for the scrimmage ended with Switzerland County leading with a score of 3-1. Senior Rachel Ard contributed one goal and senior Jade Mullins finished with two goals. The defense kept Rising Sun from scoring any more goals, while the mid-field allowed the team to keep possession.

Rising Sun took the win of a penalty kick session, in which was played out in sudden death.

– On Monday, August 17th, the Lady Pacers kicked off their official season by hosting the Lawrenceburg Lady Tigers. The Lady Tigers won the match with a final score of 9-0, but Coach Mullins said that his Lady Pacers never gave up and played hard until the end.

– On Thursday, August 20th, the Lady Pacers traveled to South Ripley to kick off conference play. The Pacers lost with a final score of 2-0.

One of the goals South Ripley scored was on a penalty kick. The game was very close but the Pacers could not get a shot to land in the back of the net.

“Our goalie, senior, Emily Campbell, had a very good game,” the coach said.
