Kyle Green is ‘Player of the Week’

The Ohio River Valley Conference has released its “Players of the Week” and “Top Performers” for the week of January 14th-19th, and Switzerland County junior Kyle Green was again honored as the “Player of the Week” in boys basketball.

Kyle Green was honored for his 40 points, including five three-pointers; 11 rebounds; and four steals in two games.

He shared the honor with Matt Gehl of Jac-Cen-Del.

Pacers Mark Sharp and Brennan Bragg were honored as “Top Performers”.

Mark Sharp was honored for his 18 points, including three three-pointers; and five steals versus Rising Sun.

Brennan Bragg was honored for his 15 points and 10 rebounds against Southwestern Shelby.

Others honored as “Top Performers” included: Tim Arnett of Jac-Cen-Del; Nick Hall, Jacob Sanders and Jacob Bump of Madison Shawe; B.J. Sieverding, Trent Tucker and Erik Demaree of South Ripley; Brice Gray and Zack Scrogham of Southwestern; and Myles Hornsby and Zeph Vaughn of Rising Sun.

In girls basketball, Lady Pacer Maggie Armstrong was honored as a “Top Performer” for the week.

Maggie Armstrong was honored for scoring 10 points, handing out two assists, and grabbing two rebounds in a game against Jac-Cen-Del.

Other players honored as “Top Performers” included: Val Wagner, Kiersten Young, and Kaylin Ploeger of Jac-Cen-Del; and Sarah Roth of Southwestern.

Kendall Withered of Southwestern and Kelly Stutler of Milan were honored as the “Players of the Week”.

The conference has also released statistical leaders:

– In girls basketball:

Courtney Cole leads the conference in scoring with an average of 16.5 points per game. She’s also fourth in rebounding with an average of 6.4 per game; and is seventh in field goal percentage at .460. She ranks 10th in freethrow shooting at .621; and is 10th in the number of assists handed out with 37.

April Thieman is third in the conference in rebounding with an average of 7.3 per game; and is eighth in freethrow percentage at .667.

Morgan Ross leads the ORVC in freethrow percentage at .760, and is ninth in rebounding with an average of 4.9 per game.

Amber Smith is 10th in scoring with an average of 8.1 points per game; and is eighth in the conference in the number of three-pointers made with 19.

Megan McCarty is third in freethrow percentage at .747; and Tanya Sefton is 10th in the number of assists made with 37.

– In boys basketball:

Kyle Green leads the ORVC in scoring with an average of 17.1 points per game; is third in the conference in the number of three-pointers made with 26; and is sixth in the conference in freethrow percentage at .750.

Brennan Bragg is fourth the conference in field goal percentage at .530; is fourth in rebounding with a per game average of 6.9; and is eight in freethrow percentage at .700.

Mark Sharp leads the conference in assists with 68; Daniel Welch is 10th in freethrow percentage at .680; and Clay Meyer is 10th in rebounding with an average of 5.4 per game.
