Junior Kodi Driver keyed the Switzerland County Lady Pacer varsity softball team both offensively and defensively Friday night in the season opener versus Lawrenceburg — striking out six as the winning pitcher and hitting a grand slam home run at the plate.

It all added up to an 11-1 victory for Switzerland County.

Lawrenceburg jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but that would be it for the Lady Tigers, as Switzerland County held their guests scoreless for the remainder of the contest. Kodi Driver’s grand slam came in the third inning, and after that the Lady Pacers cruised to the win.

Along with Kodi Driver’s blast, the Lady Pacers got hits from Holly Jackson, Jaclyn Ranz and Natalie Daugherty; two hits from Brittany Cole; and a double and a triple from Natalie Graham.

Runs were scored by Ashley Bright, Holly Jackson, Natalie Daugherty, Brittany Cole, and Courtney Cole; while Kodi Driver, Ashley Chase, and Natalie Graham scored two runs apiece.

RBIs were recorded by Tanya Sefton, Natalie Daugherty, and Jaclyn Ranz; with Natalie Graham picking up two and Kodi Driver had four.

On the base paths, Ashley Chase and Courtney Cole each had one stolen base; and Natalie Graham and Jaclyn Ranz had two steals each.

The Lady Pacers return to action tomorrow (Friday) at Owen County; then travel to South Ripley on Monday and host Milan on Wednesday.

Steven Konkle is the varsity coach.
