Switzerland County Tourism will kick off its “Festival of Lights” with ‘First Friday’ and Christkindltmarkt festivities, tomorrow night (Friday, December 2nd) in Vevay.
The festivities will begin with Santa arriving at the Paul Ogle Riverfront Park at 6 p.m. Santa will light up the park and then be available to greet each child – both young and old! Everyone is also invited to enjoy a winter trolley ride from the Visitors Center to the Ogle Park; and several groups will be providing cookies and hot chocolate.
Vevay Main Street will hold its special drawing tomorrow night, with visitors having the chance to win several prizes, including a gift certificate for a bike; a bundle of games; several $25 Vevay IGA gift certificates; and an 8-foot Christmas Stocking.
The drawing will be held at 7 p.m.
The first Christkindlemarkt will be held at Vevay Swiss Inn at the corner of Main and Ferry streets. Enjoy Dawn Boggs Elston on the piano, refreshments and shopping with a few special vendors. Treats from Angels will be available while supplies last.
Richard Leep will be the featured artist at the Community Art Center. Meet and talk to Richard from 3-7 p.m. Other artists will also be on hand to chat and tell you about their art.
Throughout the evening, visitors can shop around town, and if the weather permits, Sarah and Sprocket will be providing free carriage rides sponsored by Swiss Villa.
