John Stafford: honored veteran

At Friday’s Veterans Day program held at Switzerland County High School and coordinated by students at the high school and the middle school, county veteran John Stafford was honored.

Each year Switzerland County Middle School pays special tribute to a local veteran for their service to their country and also to the community. Stafford was presented a plaque of appreciation by middle school history teacher Paul Hewitt.

John Shelby Stafford is a veteran of the U.S. Army, and completed his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. During his service he earned the rank of E5.

Part of his service was At Camp Century in Greenland.

Stafford is a member or the VFW Post #5396 and American Legion Post #185 – where he served as Commander in 2015. He has also served on the Honor Guard for 10 years, and is a member of the Jefferson-Craig Fire Department.

Congratulations and thank you for your service.
