Led by All Tournament honorees Zach Weaver and Landon Wilks, the Switzerland County junior varsity boys basketball team captured the championship of the South Central Tournament on Saturday.
In the first game, Switzerland County defeated Christian Academy of Indiana by a score of 48-43.
Weaver had the first of what would be two big games of the tournament, finishing with 18 points, which included going 6-for-8 from the freethrow line. Coby Chase was also in double figures, as he added 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers; the trio of Wilks, Patrick Stow, and Rio Paragallo each added five points; and Tre Batchelor had a three-pointer.
The win pushed the Pacers into the championship game, where Switzerland County defeated Southwestern by a score of 56-49.
Weaver completed his outstanding day by leading the way with 24 points – with a balance of 11 points in the first half and 13 in the second. Chase was again in double figures, scoring 13 points in the game; while Paragallo had nine.
Wilks finished with eight points, putting in a solid tournament on both ends of the floor; while Stow added two.
After a game with Seymour on Saturday, December 30th; the Pacers will then participate in the Jayvee Rivertown Classic, which will see South Dearborn coming to Switzerland County for a first round game on Tuesday, January 2nd.
