Iraq veteran Chris See is Memorial Day speaker

Chris See of Vevay has been selected by the Vevay American Legion Post #185 as the featured speaker for this year’s Memorial Day observance. The ceremony will be held this Monday beginning at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial at the courthouse; and in the event of rain, the observance will be held in the Historic Hoosier Theater.

See is a graduate of Switzerland County High School, and served in the U.S. Air Force. After doing his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas; See was deployed to Iraq, where he served at Kirkuk Air Base there as a firefighter and EMT for a year. Kirkuk was a military airport during “Operation Iraqi Freedom” and “Operation Enduring Freedom”, and was turned back over the Iraqi Air Force in 2011.

Currently he is the Chief of Jeff-Craig Fire and Rescue; and is a member of both Vevay American Legion Post #185 and VFW Post #5396.
