The Indiana High School Athletic Association has announced the realignment of schools into its classes for sports for the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 school years.
Switzerland County remains in Class 2A, but has seen some changes in its Sectional alignment.
Gone is Lawrenceburg, which moves up to Class 3A due to increased enrollment; and Hauser, which has lost enrollment and has dropped to Class 1A.
Switzerland County remains a member of Sectional #45, which also includes holdovers Milan, North Decatur, South Ripley, and Southwestern. New to the Sectional is Austin, which means that it’s once again a six-team sectional after two years of having seven teams.
This alignment is in effect for baseball, basketball, softball, and volleyball. Schools that will host sectionals will be determined by the school officials at a later date.
For boys soccer, Switzerland County will play in Class 1A Sectional #58. Other schools in the boys soccer Sectional are: Rising Sun, Madison Shawe, and Southwestern.
In girls soccer, Switzerland County also participates in Class 1A, and will be paired with: Charlestown, Christian Academy of Indiana, Providence, Rising Sun, Silver Creek, and Southwestern.
