Hunt for ‘Fred’ during June ‘First Friday’

Fred, the beloved white Vevay Hill goat has been hiding in some of the businesses around Vevay.

Beware: there are plenty of colorful impostor goats grazing around town – but only six white “Fred’s.”

In conjunction with the “First Fred Day” theme for Vevay’s First Friday, the “Find Fred Scavenger Hunt” is being hosted by Switzerland County Tourism.

Between 6-8 p.m. tomorrow (Friday), everyone will be able to round up sealed envelopes containing paper goats at participating businesses (one envelope, per business, while supplies last) in hopes of finding one of six white goats roaming Vevay.

Sealed envelopes (open or tampered envelopes will be disqualified) must be returned to the Visitors Center at 128 West Main Street by 8 p.m. tomorrow (Friday).

The tourism staff will reveal the color of the concealed goat in each envelop. If a white goat is revealed, the participant will win a Switzerland County Courthouse medallion valued at $15.

No matter what the color of the goat revealed, all returned envelopes will be added to a drawing for a gift basket with various prizes. The more envelopes left at the Visitors Center, the better the odds of winning.

Local businesses that will be open tomorrow evening are invited to participate at no charge. Businesses will be supplied with all materials and maps.
