Howlett double winner in ORVC

  The Switzerland County Pacer boys varsity track team finished fourth overall last Thursday night as the ORVC Conference Meet was held on the Switzerland County track.

  The Switzerland County Pacer boys varsity track team finished fourth overall last Thursday night as the ORVC Conference Meet was held on the Switzerland County track.

  Southwestern won the team title with 117 points; followed by Milan with 88 points; Jac-Cen-Del with 73 points; and the Pacers had 65 points. South Ripley was fifth with 59 points; followed by Rising Sun with 46 and Shawe Memorial with 16.

  Pacer junior Zach Howlett had an incredible night, continuing his outstanding season by winning two individual championships.

  Howlett won the shot put with a distance of 44’ 11 1/2”; and he then earned the discus title with a distance of 135’00”.

  The other conference championship for Switzerland County cam in the 400-meter relay, where the team of Tre Batchelor, Scott Blair, JW Goldsberry, and Keegan Morris, who ran a time of :46.37.

  Isaac Slover was second in the 110-meter hurdles, fifth in the shot put, sixth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, and ninth in the discus; Morris was third in the 100-meter dash; Cameron Niswander was third in the 400-meter dash; and the 1,600-meter relay team of Niswander, Batchelor, Blair, and Goldsberry was third overall.

  Goldsberry was fourth in the 200-meter dash; Blair was sixth in the long jump; Brian Watson was sixth in the high jump; Dez Lange was seventh in the long jump and eighth in the 100-meter dash; Dominic Klem was seventh in the 400-meter dash; Cory Taulbee was seventh in the 110-meter hurdles and ninth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles; Max Anders was ninth in the high jump; Coby Manbeck was ninth in the 1,600-meter run; Jacob Wolf was 11th in the 800-meter run; and Logan Freeman was 12th in the 1,600-meter run.

  The Pacer boys track team now sets its sights on the Sectional meet, being held tonight (Thursday, May 17th) at Jeffersonville High School.
