Howlett advances to Regional in track

  Pacer Zach Howlett, fresh off of his double win in the conference meet, continued his outstanding season last Thursday night when he advanced to the IHSAA track and field Regional after placing in both the shot put and discus.

  Pacer Zach Howlett, fresh off of his double win in the conference meet, continued his outstanding season last Thursday night when he advanced to the IHSAA track and field Regional after placing in both the shot put and discus.

  Howlett finished second overall in the shot put with a distance of 42’10 1/2”; and he finished third in the discus with a distance of 134’6”.

  Other Pacers participating in the Sectional included:

  — In the 100-meter dash: Keegan Morris finished eighth overall in the final. Dez Lange ran in the preliminary but did not make the final.

  — In the 200-meter dash: JW Goldsberry finished sixth overall in the final.

  — In the 400-meter dash: Cameron Niswander finished fifth overall and Dominic Klem was 14th overall.

  — In the 800-meter run: Jacob Wolf finished 19th overall.

  — In the 1,600-meter run: Coby Manbeck finished 15th overall.

  — In the 110-meter hurdles: Isaac Slover was sixth overall in the finals; and Cory Taulbee was ninth overall in the final.

  — In the 300-meter hurdles: Taulbee was 10th overall.

  — In the 400-meter relay: the team of Tre Batchelor, Scott Blair, Goldsberry, and Morris finished fourth overall.

  — In the 1,600-meter relay: the team of Klem, Niswander, Blair, and Goldsberry finished ninth overall.

  — In the high jump: William Watson finished eighth overall.

  — In the long jump: Blair finished 14th and Lange finished 18th.

  — In the shot put: Slover was 13th overall.

  As a team, Jeffersonville won the Sectional with a score of 157; followed by Silver Creek with 113 1/2; Madison with 79; Charlestown with 51; Austin with 49; Southwestern with 47; Scottsburg with 44 1/2; Switzerland County with 31; Henryville with 30; New Washington with 7; Rock Creek Academy with 6; and Shawe Memorial with 5.
