Honoring Vietnam Veterans

Vevay VFW Post #5396 held a Vietnam Veterans Honors Day on Friday, March 29th, to honor all of the veterans of the Vietnam War. A meal was served to honor the veterans; and a film of the Vietnam ear was shown. It was a time for veterans to get together and remember how grateful they were to serve their country, even though they did not arrive home honored by their nation. It was also a time to honor fallen brothers and sisters who did not return home. The men pictured here were recipients of the Purple Heart. These men served during 1967-68, which was the most deadly period of the war. Even though there was not much reminiscing, it was a time to be together. Shown here in the photo are, from left: Burwell McKay, Ronald Margison, and Marshal Havens. Also honored but not available for the photo was Purple Heart recipient Kenny Turner. The Vietnam Veterans would like to thank the local VFW for sponsoring this special event. A special thank you to the post officers for organizing the event. Photo provided.
