Homecoming festivities are set for Saturday night at Switzerland County High School

Switzerland County High School will welcome back alumni and friends Saturday night for the 2007 Homecoming activities.

The night will feature boys junior varsity and varsity games against Southwestern of Shelby County, and the jayvee game will get underway at 6 p.m.

The Homecoming ceremonies will take place between the junior varsity and varsity games, and will be highlighted by the crowning of this year’s Queen and King. Last year’s royalty, Melissa Kinne and Nicholas Carfield, will be on hand to crown this year’s winners.

Candidates for Homecoming Queen for 2007 include:

– ANNA MARIE BELL: Anna Bell is the daughter of Sheryl Smith of Vevay and Michael Bell of Louisville, Kentucky. She is a member of the Pep Club, Business Professionals of America; the yearbook staff; and also keeps statistics for the boys basketball team.

She will be graduating with an academic honors diploma; and will continue her education at Western Kentucky University, where she will work towards an RN degree.

– ASHLEY MICHELE BRIGHT: Ashley Bright is the daughter of Georganna Chambers of Vevay. She is a four-year member of the varsity basketball and softball teams; and a three-year member of the varsity cross country team. She is a member of Pep Club, Conservation Club, is vice president of the senior class; and is secretary of the National Honor Society.

She has earned All Conference and All Sectional honors in basketball; and earned a spot on the All Tournament team at the Rivertown Classic for two years.

Following graduation she plans on pursuing a career in psychology.

– SARA ASHLY CRAIG: Sara Craig is the daughter of Kevin and Nancy Craig of near Mount Sterling. She is president of the senior class; secretary of the FFA chapter; and has been a co-captain of the varsity soccer team for three years. She is a member of the softball team; Pep Club; Fellowship of Christian Athletes; National Honor Society; Conservation Club; and is a member of Mount Sterling Baptist Church.

She was the 2006 Swiss Ambassador of the Swiss Wine Festival; and has earned scholastic and mental attitude awards in soccer.

Following graduation she will attend the University of Indianapolis and major in human biology and physical therapy; and plans on becoming a pediatric physical therapist.

– HANNAH FINDLEY: Hannah Findley is the daughter of Robert and Anne Findley of near Vevay. She is a four-year member of the varsity soccer team; is treasurer of the National Honor Society; is vice president of the senior class; and is a member of the Conservation Club.

She plans on attending Northern Kentucky University following graduation, and will work towards a BSN in nursing.

– BRENNA GREEN: Brenna Green is the daughter of Joe and Kaulene Green of near Vevay. She is a member of the Drama Club; the Pep Club; and the Show Choir; and is president of the National Honor Society. She is a member of the varsity soccer team; and is also a member of the varsity cheerleading squad.

Following graduation she plans on attending IUPUI in Indianapolis, and will be majoring in pre-pharmacy.

– JILLIAN MAY HAZELDEAN: Jill Hazeldean is the daughter of Jerry and Jan Hazeldean of Tapps Ridge. She is a three-year member of the varsity cheerleading squad, and is co-captain of the cheerleaders this year. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, FFA, Prayer Group, and the Pep Club.

She was second runner up in the 2006 Miss Switzerland County pageant; and was the second runner up and Miss Congeniality in the 2005 Edelweiss Teen Princess pageant.

Following graduation she plans on attending college and studying to become a nurse.

– AMANDA SUE HON: Amanda Hon is the daughter of Danny and Jennifer Hon of near Florence. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes; and the Prayer Group; and is also a member of the cross country and track teams. She was the Most Valuable Runner in both sports; and was the individual conference champion; All Sectional, All Regional, and All Semistate as a State Qualifier in cross country.

Her career plans are to attend Ball State University and become a part of their storm chasing team and major in meteorology and minor in missionary studies. She also plans in running cross country while in college.

– KAYLA SUZANNE KONKLE: Kayla Konkle is the daughter of Steven and Janie Konkle of Vevay. She is a member of the National Honor Society; the Fellowship of Christian Athletes; and Pep Club. She is a three-year member of the varsity cheerleading squad, where she is a co-captain this year; and is a four year member of the varsity volleyball team and a member of the varsity softball team.

She has helped earned seven cheerleading championships; was a member of the softball sectional championship team; was All Conference in volleyball; and was the Most Valuable Player in volleyball.

Her future plans are to attend Northern Kentucky University and major in secondary education.

– SYDNEY LEE PIKE: Sydney Pike is the daughter of Billy and Tanya Pike of Fairview. She is a co-captain of the varsity cheerleading squad; and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes; National Honor Society; and the Pep Club. She volunteers at the Quercus Grove Food Pantry; is co-secretary of the senior class; is editor of the “Pacer Post” newspaper; and is a member of the 4-H program.

She was the 2006 “Queen of Hearts”; was voted as “Class Sweetheart” by her classmates; was the class candidate for the Aurora Farmers Fair; and was the 2006 Edelweiss Princess.

Following graduation she plans on attending Northern Kentucky University and majoring in business management.

– SAMANTHA JO SMITH: Samantha Smith is the daughter of Terri Grove of Patriot and Greg Smith of Rising Sun. She is the president of the Business Professionals of America; and is a member of the FFA; Pep Club; and is on the yearbook staff.

She was Miss Congeniality of the 2005 “Queen of Hearts” pageant; and following graduation she plans on attending college and major in dental hygiene.

This year’s Homecoming King candidates include:

– KRISTOPHER MICHAEL HETRICK: Kris Hetrick is the son of Vevay Hetrick of near Vevay and Kristine Hetrick of Carrollton, Kentucky. He is a four-year member of the varsity soccer team; and a three-year member of the varsity baseball team. He was All Conference in soccer; earned awards for the Best Offensive Player and the Mental Attitude Award in soccer; and was the Most Valuable Player of the “Bearcat Classic” in soccer.

Following graduation he plans to pursue a career as a welder.

– JORDAN BRADLEY HINMAN: Jordan Hinman is the son of Janna Sweeney of Vevay and Tracy Hinman of Florence. He is a member of the FFA; the Pep Club; and is also a member of the varsity basketball, baseball, and golf teams.

He was the nominee of his classmates as the King candidate for the Versailles Pumpkin Show; was voted as the “Class Crack Up”; and earned the “Most Improved” in basketball and the “Most Valuable” award in golf.

His career plans are undecided at this time.

– ZACHARY NORMAN KNAUS: Zach Knaus is the son of Barry Knaus of Vevay and Brenda Jorgensen of Albion, Michigan. He is the president of the Pep Club; is a member of the FFA; and attends Fredonia Baptist Church. He was voted by his classmates as having the “Most School Spirit”.

Following graduation he will be attending the University of Southern Indiana and will be majoring in radio/television broadcasting; and plans a career in sports broadcasting.

– BRYAN ALLEN LEVELL, JR.: Bryan Levell is the son of Rhonda Richards of Vevay and Bryan Levell of East Enterprise. He is a member of the FFA chapter; is a member of the varsity basketball team; and is also a member of the varsity baseball squad. He has earned a crop judging award and the “I Dare You” award in FFA; and following graduation he plans on attending Northwestern Ohio College to major in high performance automotive.

– AARON MOORE: Aaron Moore is the son of Cyndi Barnes of Vevay and Mark Moore of Dillsboro. He is a three-year member of the varsity soccer team; a two-year member of the varsity basketball team; and is a three-year member of the varsity baseball team. He is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Business Professionals of America.

He earned awards as the Best Defensive Player in soccer his sophomore and senior seasons; and earned the Best Defense Award in baseball as a freshman.

Following graduation he plans on attending Franklin College to play soccer and major in pre-law.

– TREVOR JOHN SEFTON: T.J. Sefton is the son of Mark Sefton and Debi Sefton of Moorefield. He is a member of the varsity basketball team; and is also a member of the varsity baseball and track teams. He is a member of the Pep Club, the newspaper staff, and is a member of the 4-H program..

He was the choice of his classmates to represent them in the Aurora Farmers Fair King contest; and was voted as “Class Sweetheart” by his classmates.

His career plans are to attend either Northern Kentucky University or the University of Mount Saint Joseph’s and major in sports business.

– JOSEPH PAUL SPOORES: Joe Spoores is the son of Tony and Anna Spoores of Vevay. He is a four-year member of the varsity soccer team; a three-year member of the varsity baseball team; and a three-year member of the varsity track team. He has been a stunt man for the varsity cheerleading squad for the past three years.

He earned the Best Defense Award in soccer for his junior year; and his career plans are undecided at this time.

– WILLIAM CHRISTOPHER TOBIAS: Chris Tobias is the son of Rita Tobias of Vevay and Earl Tobias of Bennington. He is a four-year member of the varsity soccer team; and has been involved in the Pep Club for the past two years.

Following his graduation from Switzerland County High School this spring, Chris Tobias plans on attending the University of Southern Indiana to study pre-physical therapy; and then plans on transferring to the University of Evansville to complete his education. He plans on earning a doctorate in physical therapy.

– TRAVIS MICHAEL WEBSTER: Travis Webster is the son of Barry and Carolyn Jo Webster of Popcorn Ridge. He is a three-year member of the varsity basketball team; and a four-year member of the varsity baseball team. He has been involved in the 4-H program for five years; is a member of the FFA program; and has been a member of the Post #9 American Legion baseball team in Madison for three years.

He was a member of the 2006 Sectional champion boys basketball team, earning All Sectional honors; earned basketball awards for Best Defense and Most Assists; and was the Most Valuable Player of the 2007 Rivertown Classic.

His future plans are to attend college and study business, and also plans on playing collegiate baseball and basketball.

– AARRON WOESTE: Aarron Woeste is the son of Joe Woeste of Vevay and Judy Leever of Hebron, Kentucky. He is a member of the student council; FFA; and Spanish Club; and is also a member of the Conservation Club.

His career plans following graduation include attending Franklin College to study pre-law; and then attending law school at USC.
