Hit and Run accident being investigated


Switzerland County Sheriff Nathan Hughes reports that his department is currently conducting an investigation into a hit and run accident that occurred on Monday night, April 13th, at approximately 10 p.m.

The victim, John Yoder of Switzerland County, was riding his bicycle on Vevay Hill, State Road 56, when his bicycle was struck by a vehicle.

Witnesses at the scene describe the vehicle as a light colored sedan with a white male driver. The vehicle may have front end damage from the impact with the victim’s bicycle and another vehicle that had stopped to offer assistance.

The suspect’s vehicle was last seen heading north on State Road 56. A search of the area by deputies did not locate the vehicle, and the investigation is ongoing.

Yoder was transported to King’s Daughters’ Hospital, and later transferred to University of Louisville Hospital for further treatment of his injuries.

Agencies assisting the Switzerland County Sheriff’s Department at the scene included Switzerland County EMS, Jeff-Craig Fire and Rescue, and the Vevay Police Department.
