The Switzerland County boys varsity soccer team made history last Friday night when the Pacers defeated Rising Sun for the first time ever.
Switzerland County took the game by a final score of 4-2.
Senior Devon Armstrong contributed a hat trick in the game, scoring three goals and also had an assist. Nathan Hickman had the other goal for the Pacers; and goalies Codey Turner and Jordan Hewitt split time in the net, recording 18 saves; and the defense turned in an outstanding performance.
On Saturday the Pacers traveled to Oldenburg Academy, and after a closely-fought contest, the Twisters managed a late goal and escaped with a 1-0 win.
The game was scoreless until late in the second half, but Oldenburg scored with just three minutes left in the contest.
Switzerland County attempted several shots on goal at the end of the game, but couldn’t find the net.
Last Thursday night, September 13th, the Pacers lost to Lawrenceburg by a score of 3-1.
The game was tied 1-1 at the end of the first half, and it stayed that way until 20 minutes remained in the contest, when Lawrenceburg scored off of a corner kick. The Tigers then added an insurance goal in the final two minutes to seal the win.
Switzerland County’s lone goal was scored by Alec McAlpine with an assist from Justin Wagner; and Jordan Hewitt recorded 25 saves in goal.
