The Switzerland County High School track teams hosted the ORVC Meet last Thursday, May 11th.
The Lady Pacers earned fourth place with a score of 54 points. Southwestern won the conference with 135 points; followed by Rising Sun with 104; South Ripley was 71; Jac-Cen-Del had 54 points; and Milan had 38. Shawe finished with 19 points.
Ashley Chase placed first and broke two school records in two events. She won the 100-meter dash with a time of :12.22; and then established a school record in winning the 200-meter dash with a time of :25.75.
Christina Ahaus placed second in the shot put with a distance of 31’ 8”.
Amanda Hon placed third in the 3,200-meter run and fourth in the 1,600-meter run; and April Thieman placed fourth in the 200-meter dash and also in the 400-meter dash. April Thieman also placed sixth in the long jump.
The 1,600-meter relay team of April Thieman, Ashley Chase, Rosie Larsen and Shana Todd placed fourth; while the team of Beth Abbott, Rosie Larson, Emilee Waldron and Shana Todd placed fifth in the 3,200-meter relay.
Beth Abbott earned sixth in the 3,200-meter run.
“I am extremely proud of these girls, they competed extremely well,” coach Adam Dennis said. “Emilee Waldron also ran a personal best in the 1,600 at 6:56; and Laci Daugherty also ran her personal best time in the 300-meter hurdles. The team did a great job.”

The Pacer boys track team earned second place in the conference meet, finishing with a score of 83 points. Milan was the ORVC winner with 124.5 points; while Rising Sun was third with 80 points. Southwestern finished with 76 points; South Ripley with 49; Shawe with 37.5; and Jac-Cen-Del finished with 15.
Earning first places and all-conference honors were: B. J. Shelton in the shot put with a toss of 43’ 10 1/4”; Ben Hickman in the long jump with a distance of 21’ 2”; and Brandon Otter in the high jump with a height of 6’ 1”.
Second place finishers were Kyle Green in the high jump and Brandon Otter in the long jump.
Earning third place in two events was Ben Hickman in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash; and Nathan Hickman also earned a third place in the 300-meter high hurdles.
Josh Snow placed fourth in the 400-meter dash; and Brandon Otter placed fourth in the 200-meter dash.
Jim Abbott placed fifth in the 3,200-meter run; and Nathan Hickman placed fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles.
Relay teams placing fifth were the 400-meter relay team of: T. J. Sefton, Brandon Otter, Nathan Hickman and Kyle Green; and the 3,200-meter relay team of: Josh Snow, Austin Reed, Matt Johnson and Jim Abbott.
The 1,600-meter relay team of Chad Robinson, Nathan Hickman, Josh Snow and Matt Johnson placed sixth.
Kyle Green also earned sixth in the shot put and Ben Hickman placed sixth in the discus.
“We definitely saved out best for last. I am so proud of all the guys, several gave their best performances of the season,” coach Sean McGarvey said. “Hopefully we carry this over into the sectional.”
Boys sectional will be at East Central High School, tonight (Thursday).
