Health Department sets free testing

Free HIV and Hepatitis C testing are available at the Switzerland County Health Department. These test are offered throughout the Indiana State Department of Health.

Anyone may be tested, but those whom have high risk of contact to these diseases are encouraged to contact the Health Department to have a scheduled time arranged. Higher risk contact include (but not limited to) direct, unprotected exposure to blood or body fluids by shared IV or snorting drug usage, having unprotected, intimate contact with a person who has diagnosis of HIV or Hepatitis C, receiving a tattoo, or sharing items such as razors.

No special preparations are required to do the testing, and results are completed in 20 minutes using mouth swabs. Please not, there may also be a blood draw.

The Switzerland County Health Department requests that those interested call and schedule a time for testing as the entire process takes about an hour.
