There are all types of Halloween activities being planned for Switzerland County as the county heads into October.
• The town of Vevay will hold its Trick or Treat in town on Saturday, October 27th. It will be held from 6-8 p.m. Residents are reminded to turn their front porch lights on if they are participating.
Also in Vevay beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 27th, there will be a ‘Trunk or Treat’ event in the Paul Ogle Riverfront Park.
Everyone is invited to come down and set up for the ‘Trunk or Treat’, and participants are encouraged to decorate their trunk and pass out candy; with a prize being awarded for the best decorated trunk.
Those wanting a ‘Trunk or Treat’ space can register at https://form.jotform.com/casiejesop/trick-or-treat-signup-form.
There will also be a costume contest at 5:30 p.m. at the basketball courts.
Organizers are looking for donations of candy for the event. Donations may be dropped off at the Switzerland County Tourism office, First Financial Bank, or H & Co. Hair Salon.

• Three separate events are being planned for the Town of Patriot by the Patriot/Posey Park Board for the month of October — A Hayride and Pumpkin Carving Contest, a Halloween Dance and Costume Party and the third annual ‘Trunk or Treat’.
The Hayride will begin in Harris Park this Sunday, October 14th at 4 p.m. for anyone interested in taking a hayride and picking up a pumpkin. Upon returning from the Hayride, there will be a Pumpkin Carving Contest with prizes to be given.
The Halloween Dance Party and Costume Contest will be on Saturday, October 20th at the Patriot Town Hall, 352 3rd Street in Patriot for kids ages 8-14. The doors will be locked at 6 p.m. and re-open at 9 p.m. Refreshments, music and fun will be provided. Those in costume could win a prize.
Trunk or Treat will be Wednesday, October 31st, Halloween night at the intersection of Highways 156 and 250 beginning at 6 p.m. and ending at 9 p.m. The parking lot at the four-way light will be available for parking.
