“Grape Escape” is the theme for the August “First Friday” event happening tomorrow in downtown Vevay.
The event, which is being sponsored by the Swiss Wine Festival, will be held from 6-9 p.m., and is being presented by Vevay Main Street.
Downtown businesses will feature art exhibits and demonstrations, dining and late night shopping. Live entertainment will be provided by country bands “Pure Country” and “Dry Fork”. Free carriage rides will also be available.
Judging will take place for local businesses who are participating in the wine barrel decorating contest.
Each business will compete for a first place prize of $100. The finished barrels will be placed around the various businesses for visitors to view and be judged.
Each barrel will also contain a box for donations to a charity of choice designated by each of the businesses.
The Swiss Wine Festival Information table which will be set up on the corner of Main St. and Ferry Streets, and available will be souvenirs, Riverboat cruise tickets, amusement ride tickets, parking passes, admission tickets, and raffle tickets. – Main Street Cafe, with donations benefiting the Switzerland County YMCA.
– Danner’s Hardware, with donations benefiting the Kiwanis Club of Vevay.
– Coldwell Banker Real Estate, with donations benefiting the Swiss Friends of Animals.
– Keli’s Critter Care, with donations benefiting the Switzerland County Animal Shelter.
– State Farm Insurance, with donations benefiting the Switzerland County After Prom/YMCA.
– Creative Images, with donations benefiting the Kiwanis Club of Vevay.
– Firewood Corporation, with donations benefiting the Switzerland County YMCA.
– Vevay Newspapers, Inc., with donations benefiting the Switzerland County High School cheerleaders.
– Schenck Mansion LLC, with donations benefiting the Switzerland County High School varsity cheerleaders.
