The 2017 Swiss Wine Festival Board of Directors is proud to announce that Indiana’s governor, Eric Holcomb, will be the Grand Marshal for this year’s Grand Festival Parade.
“We are very excited about this,” Festival President Kirk Works said. “It’s very rare that an acting Governor attends functions such as this. The last time this occurred was 43 years ago in 1974 when Governor and Mrs. Otis R. Bowen rode in the parade as Grand Marshal.”
Eric Holcomb is the 51st governor of the state of Indiana. Prior to his election, Holcomb served as Indiana’s Lt. Governor and was a trusted advisor to former governor Mitch Daniels, Vice-President Mike Pence and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats.
Governor Holcomb is a veteran of the United States Navy a graduate of Pike High School in Indianapolis and Hanover College. He is the author of “Leading the Revolution,” a book detailing his experiences with leadership and executive management.
A lifetime Hoosier, Holcomb has shot – and made – a jump shot in each of Indiana’s counties. A student of history, he is also a collector of presidential signatures and has documents signed by 42 of our nation’s 45 presidents.
This year’s Swiss Wine Festival will be held Thursday through Sunday, August 24th-27th.
