Good for you week of 4/5/07

Mariam Hammond and Lloyd Caddell! Pam Burk of “Four Seasons Farm” near East Enterprise has nominated Mariam Hammond of Vevay and Lloyd Caddell of near East Enterprise for this week’s “Good for You!” award.

Pam Burk writes: “I would like to nominate Mariam Hammond and Lloyd Caddell for the ‘Good for You’ award. On Wednesday, March 28th, my miniature mare was starting to foal about 2:30 p.m. She was in the pasture with her other mates, and this was her first birth and she was having trouble. She went down into a small but deep ravine, and the baby was also stuck due to being in the wrong position.

“Mariam and Lloyd happened to be driving by and with their quick thinking, saw that something was terribly wrong with ‘Gypsy’ and realized the baby was not in the right position. They drove to my mother’s house, who then came and got me while I was working with one of my 4-H kids close by.

“Within minutes I was there and delivered the little filly. If it were not for my caring friends and neighbors, Mariam and Lloyd, the filly most likely would not have survived; and I may have lost the mare, also. What a blessing it is to have these two ‘angels’ fly by just at the right time. My love to them and thanks from the bottom of my heart.”
