Golf team competes in Sectional


The Switzerland County golf team wrapped up its season on Monday by competing in the IHSAA Sectional at Madison.

The Pacers finished seventh in the field of 13 teams with a score of 337. Golfers play 18 holes in the Sectional.

Individually, Walter Barnes led the team with a round of 81 (43-38); while Corey McFarland had an 84 (42-42).

Alec McAlpine had an 85 (43-42); Tanner Ross had an 87 (43-44); and Jeff Mullins fired a 101 (55-46).

Madison Shawe won its first ever Sectional championship with a team score of 301; followed by Jennings County with 310; Southwestern with 321; Madison with 322; Milan with 322; and East Central with 336.

Following Switzerland County was South Ripley with 351; Lawrenceburg with 357; Jac-Cen-Del with 359; South Dearborn with 361; Rising Sun with 396; and Rock Creek with 442.
