Girls win, boys second in Pre-ORVC meet


The Switzerland County Middle School girls and boys cross country teams continued their outstanding seasons last Thursday night, participating in the Pre-ORVC meet held at Rising Sun.

The Lady Pacers earned the team championship, finishing with a team score of 34 points to easily outdistance second place Milan (73 points). Rising Sun was third with 91 points; Jac-Cen-Del and Southwestern each finished with 96 points; and Shawe Memorial had 117 points.

Gracie White led the way, as the seventh grader built upon her outstanding year with an individual championship on Thursday night in a time of 12:36.8.

Other Switzerland County runners included Alisha Detmer in fourth place overall in a time of 13:05.2; Halle Archer in seventh place overall in a time of 13:25.5; Carlee Boggs finished eighth overall in a time of 13:28.6; and Dakota Richards rounded out the scoring with a 14th place finish, running a time of 13:49.0.

Other Lady Pacer runners included: Courtney Higgins, 14:09; Bri Stow, 14:20; Macy Collier, 14:55; Amber Detmer, 15:34; Molly Hicks, 15:35; Eva Hicks, 17:09 and Paige Earls, 19:21.


The boys team posted a great night, but finished second overall with a score of 72. Rising Sun won the event with a team score of 53.

Southwestern was third with 75 points; followed by South Ripley with 89 points; Shawe Memorial with 96 points; and Milan with 103 points.

The leading runner for the Pacers was Craig Demaree, who ran to a fourth place overall finish with a time of 11:37.3.

Peyton Richards finished ninth overall with a time of 12:11.2; and Cale Collier was 14th overall with a time of 12:40.0. Luke Sullivan was 20th with a time of 13:30.8; and Matthew Young was 25th in a time of 14:05.5.

Other Switzerland County runners competing included: Isaiah Dayadharum, 26th in a time of 14:06.8; Michael Young, 29th in a time of 14:28.0; Dylan Sullivan, 14:28; and Jamison Works, 14:38.
