Anders on to semis
Leah Anders continues her quest to return to the IHSAA State Cross Country Meet after a personal best time at the Brown County Regional. She will compete in the Brown County Semi-State this Saturday. See story on page A8.

They just missed qualifying for semi state (top 5 teams qualify) but put together their best team performance of the season and had the fastest first through fifth place 5k average (22:13) of any team in school history at regional competition and the season overall, that includes the 2010 and 2015 semi state teams.

Leah Anders led the way with a sixth  place and season best time of 19:50. Other times included: Keirstan Oeffinger (21:51, personal best, #9 all time); Matty Anderson (22:31, personal best, #12 all time); Alisha Detmer (22:48, personal best, #13 all time); Allison Detmer (24:08, personal best, 8 seconds off the top 20 list) and Zoe Cole (28:03, competed despite being injured).

Anders keeps her season alive one more week as she becomes the only athlete in school history to qualify for semi state competition four times. She competes Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Brown County.

Coach Kristopher Sandlin encourages everyone to “help me in congratulating this wonderful group of young ladies. They took advantage of the nice weather, fast course and competition and more importantly enjoyed the opportunity. I am very proud of their work ethic and dedication shown this season.”
