Girls track team picks up tri-meet win


The Switzerland County High School girls varsity track team participated in a three-way meet last Friday, April 25th, and picked up the win over Scottsburg and Lanesville.

The Lady Pacers as a team finished with 56 points, outdistancing Scottsburg (50) and Lanesville (40).

Earning blue ribbons in the meet were Megan Dasis in the long jump with a distance of 14’0″; McKayli Scudder in the high jump with a height of 4’10”; Natalie Newman in the shot put with a distance of 28’3″; MacKenzie Covington in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:11; and Cameron Ray in the 3,200-meter run in a time of 14:17.

The 400-meter relay team of Moriah Northcutt, Bre Ricketts, McKayli Scudder, and Megan Dasis won their event with a time of :55.65; and the 1,600-meter relay team of Megan Dasis, MacKenzie Covington, Anja Rotter, and Audrey Kinne won their event with a time of 4:51.

Earning second places in the meet were Bre Ricketts in the 100-meter hurdles; Moriah Northcutt in the 300-meter hurdles; and Melissa Furnish in the 200-meter dash.

Audrey Kinne finished third in the 1,600-meter run; while fourth place points were earned by Natalie Newman in the discus; Adeli Kinne in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash; Anja Rotter in the 300-meter hurdles; and Moriah Northcutt in the 800-meter run.
