Girls high school track team prepares to host invitational

Coach Adam Dennis’ Lady Pacer varsity track team has had four meets during the past week; and Switzerland County will come home tonight (Thursday) to host the Switzerland County Invitational, which starts at 5 p.m.

– Last Tuesday night the Lady Pacers participated in the Tiger Relays at Lawrenceburg, which is a meet involving only field events and relays.

Third place finishers for Switzerland County was the shot put team of Christina Ahaus and Carlie Peacock; and fourth place finishers were the shuttle hurdle relay team of Laci Daugherty and Andrea Brogan. Also finishing fourth was the middle distance medley team of Hannah Spain and Lauren Hon.

Earning sixth places were the 3,200-meter relay team of Halie Thomas and Amber Meli; the discus team of Katie Hall and Katie Rayls; the throwers relay team of Katie Rayls and Carlie Peacock; the long jump team of Laci Daugherty and Andrea Brogan; and 800-meter relay team of LeeAnn Lozier, Andrea Brogan, Becca Sittloh, and Dina Sun; and the Distance Medley Relay team of Lee Ann Lozier, Becca Sittloh, Beth Abbott, and Amber Meli.

– Last Thursday the Lady Pacers participated in the South Dearborn Invitational. South Dearborn won the meet, followed by Batesville, South Ripley, Franklin County, Lawrenceburg, Oldenburg, Switzerland County, and Rising Sun.

The Lady Pacers earned two first place ribbons, with Christina Ahaus winning the shot put with a distance of 33′ 1/4″; and Maggie Armstrong winning the discus with a distance of 93′ 1 1/2″.

The 3,200-meter relay team of Halie Thomas, Becca Sittloh, Shana Todd, and Amber Meli finished fourth in the personal best time; and the 400-meter relay team of Taylor Chase, Kim Cox, Hannah Spain, and Katie Rayls was sixth overall.

Also finishing sixth was Maggie Armstrong in the long jump with a personal best distance; and she also finished sixth in the 200-meter dash.

– The Lady Pacers lost a heartbreaker to Rising Sun in a dual meet on Monday night by a score of 60-59.

First place finishers were led by Andrea Brogan, who brought home two individual first place finishes by winning the 200-meter dash (:30.5) and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles (:59.0). She was also part of the winning 1,600-meter relay team along with Shana Todd, Dina Sun, and Becca Sittloh, who recorded a time of 5:11.

Other first place winners were Shana Todd in the 100-meter dash (:14.03); Dina Sun in the long jump (12’0″); Christina Ahaus in the shot put (33’7″); Katie Hall with a personal record in the discus (79’3″); and the 400-meter relay team of Shana Todd, Dina Sun, Becca Sittloh, and Katie Rayls (1:00).

Second places were earned by Dina Sun in the 400-meter dash; Beth Abbott on the 1,600-meter run; Amber Meli in the 3,200-meter run; Andrea Brogan in the 110-meter high hurdles in personal best time; and Christina Ahaus in the discus.

Finishing third were Lindsey Christman in the 400-meter dash; Becca Sittloh in the 800-meter dash; Katie Rayls in the shot put; and Carlie Peacock in the discus.

– Switzerland County then participated in a three-way meet on Tuesday night at Lawrenceburg, along with South Dearborn. Lawrenceburg won the meet with a score of 69 1/2; followed by South Dearborn with 54 and Switzerland County with 34 1/2.

First place finishers included Maggie Armstrong in the discus (96′ 1 3/4″); and Christina Ahaus in the shot put (33′).

Second places were earned by Andrea Brogan in the 200-meter dash; and the 3,200-meter relay team of Beth Abbott, Amber Meli, Halie Thomas, and Shana Todd.

Third place points were earned by Andrea Brogan in the 100-meter high hurdles and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles; Maggie Armstrong in the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, and the long jump; Amber Meli in the 1,600-meter run; and Laci Daugherty in the high jump.

Finishing fourth were: Laci Daugherty in the 110-meter high hurdles and the long jump; Shana Todd in the 100-meter dash; and Katie Hall in the discus.
