Girls golf team hitting its stride

The Switzerland County girls varsity golf team continued its impressive season last week with three matches.

Last Wednesday evening the Lady Pacers traveled to Scottsburg for a three-way match with Scottsburg and Jennings County.

Jennings County won the match with a team score of 177; followed by Scottsburg with 210 and Switzerland County with 219.

Individually, Tiffany Lucas led the team with a 48; followed by Jenna Daugherty with a 54; Karoline Park with a 58; Kelsi South with a 59; Emily Lanman with a 63; and Hilary Lanman with a 66.

On Thursday night the Lady Pacers hosted a four-way match with South Dearborn, Southwestern and South Ripley; and although Switzerland County had an impressive night, they could not pull out the win.

Southwestern finished with a score of 204 to nudge out Switzerland County with 205. South Ripley finished with 215; and South Dearborn had a 218.

Individually, Tiffany Lucas had her personal best with a 45; and Jenna Daugherty tied a personal best with a 46. Karoline Park had a 54; Kelsi South and Emily Lanman each had 60s; and Hilary Lanman had a 61.

The team score was just four strokes off of the school record.

Sickness and injury hampered the Lady Pacers on Tuesday night, as the team traveled to Milan to take on South Ripley and Milan.

Playing without junior Tiffany Lucas and senior Emily Lanman, the Lady Pacers finished with a team score of 230 to fall to South Ripley, which finished with 210. Milan did not have enough golfers to record a team score.

Jenna Daugherty had a 47 to lead Switzerland County; while Karoline Park had a 55; Kelsi South had a 60; and Hilary Lanman had a 68.
