The Switzerland County Pacer boys varsity basketball team will travel to Huntingburg, Indiana this Saturday to participate in the IHSAA Class 2A Regional being held at Southridge High School.
The Pacers earned the right to compete for the Regional title by winning South Ripley Sectional #45 this past Saturday night.
What’s next for the Pacers? Here’s a look:
– PERRY CENTRAL: The Commodores come into the Regional sporting a 21-3 record and winning Sectional #48, which was also held at Southridge High School. Their school colors are green and white and they are coached by Matt Carter in his sixth year at the school.
Perry Central averages 65.4 points per game on offense, and gives up an average of 48.5 points per game on defense.
They play in the Patoka Lake Conference, along with West Washington, Paoli, Crawford County, Mitchell, Orleans, and Springs Valley.
Perry Central and Switzerland County have no common opponents during the regular season.
Perry Central Junior-Senior High School is located in Leopold, Indiana. The Commodores gym seats 1,418 fans.
Of note: Leopold, Indiana is located south of Interstate 64 in the Hoosier National Forest between Ferdinand and Tell City.
– CLARKSVILLE: The Generals won Sectional #46, which was held at Crawford County. Their school colors are black and white, and they are coached by Jason Connell in his third year at the school.
They come into the Regional with a record of 18-5, and participate in the Mid-Southern Conference along with Silver Creek, Charlestown, Eastern Pekin, Corydon Central, Austin, Scottsburg, Brownstown Central, Salem, and North Harrison.
Clarksville averages 58.3 points per game on offense, and allows 46 points per game on average on defense.
As for common opponents: Clarksville beat New Washington, 67-41; defeated Austin 63-56; defeated Trinity Lutheran 59-44; and beat Southwestern by a score of 70-36.
Switzerland County beat New Washington 66-40; beat Austin 52-44; beat Trinity Lutheran 80-46; and defeated Southwestern twice, 69-45 and 74-61.
Clarksville High School is located near New Albany, along the Ohio River, and the Generals’ gym seats 1,678 fans.
- LINTON-STOCKTON: The Linton-Stockton Miners come into Regional play having won Sectional #47 held at North Knox and holding a record of 21-3. Their school colors are red and royal blue, and they are coached by Joey Hart, in his third year at the school.
They are a part of the Southwestern Indiana Conference, along with Bloomfield, Shakamak, North Daviess, Union (Duggar), Eastern Greene, White River Valley, Clay City, and North Central (Farmersburg).
The Miners average 62.7 points per game on offense, and give up an average of 45.9 points per game on defense. Their gym seats 2,000 fans.
Linton-Stockton and Switzerland County have no common opponents during the regular season.
The school is located in Linton, Indiana, which is southwest of Bloomington.
