Freshmen defeat Jac-Cen-Del, 43-28

The Switzerland County freshmen boys basketball team picked up a big conference win on Monday night with a 43-28 pasting of Jac-Cen-Del.

“After a slow start we came out in the second half and used our press to generate turnovers, which got us going offensively,” coach Sean McGarvey said.

Calen Otter led the Pacers with 14 points; and he also added two assists, three rebounds, and four steals.

Nathan Smith had seven points and 13 rebounds; while Josh Yeary and Brady Scudder finished with five points each.

Anthony Dennis and Anthony Dasis each contributed four points in the win; while Steven Craig and Quinn Meyer each added two points.

On Saturday the Pacers defeated South Ripley by a score of 39-26.

The Pacers got a balanced offensive attack, getting eight points each from Calen Otter and Brady Scudder; and six points each from Anthony Dasis and Nathan Smith.

Calen Otter, Brady Scudder, and Nathan Smith each also contributed seven rebounds to the victory.

Anthony Dennis and Josh Yeary finished with four points each; and Steven Craig had three points.

“We came out with a lot of intensity in the first quarter and carried it thorughout the game,” Coach McGarvey said.

The freshman record now stands at 3-1 overall; and the Pacers return to action tonight (Thursday) when they host Rising Sun for a 6 p.m. start.
