Freshman boys now 7-2 overall

The Switzerland County freshman boys basketball team notched another victory on Monday night, defeating Rising Sun by a score of 38-34 to raise the team’s overall record to 7-1 and a perfect 6-0 in conference play.

Zach O’Neal led the way for the Pacers, finishing with 13 points and eight rebounds. Blake Whitham had nine points, two assists, and three rebounds; Damon Robbins had six points and four rebounds; and Adam Clark had six points.

Ernie Lipperd had two points and four rebounds; and Allen Chase had two points, two blocks, three assists, and five rebounds.

Shawn Brown, Zack Daugherty, Ross Galbreath, and Cody Hoffman also contributed valuable minutes in the team’s win.

“This was a total team effort,” Coach Sean McGarvey said. “I was very proud of all the guys because everyone got into the game and made positive contributions.”

On Tuesday night the Pacer winning streak came to an end with a 36-28 loss to Jac-Cen-Del.

Allen Chase led the Pacers with eight points, five rebounds, and two steals; and both Zach O’Neal and Blake Whitham finished with six points each.

Tim McAlister, Damon Robbins, Ernie Lipperd, and Adam Clark each finished with two points.

“We struggled on defense in the second half and could not get stops when we needed to,” Coach McGarvey said.

The team returns to action this Tuesday night when the Pacers travel to South Ripley.
